Hrvatske šume, as the largest authority in Croatia when it comes to hunting management, devotes special attention to taking care of wildlife, especially of protected wild species. This care mostly consists of creating better conditions of life, especially during extreme climatic conditions, when it comes so far that the game has to be physically moved away to be saved.  Great floods, long lasting high snow, long droughts and similar climatic conditions are times when the activities of HŠ employees working in the Hunting department are most intensified. The data on the mean annual nutrition on the Company's scale show the quantities and types of nutrition taken out into the hunting areas:

- nutriens 1208 tonnes

- grainy food 1860 tonnes

- mixtures 204 tonnes

- juicy food 1268 tonnes

- meat cointaining food 140 tonnes

- salt 32 tonnes

In addition to that, HŠ is sowing almost 400 ha of different plant cultures for game nutrition. Every year 900 ha of meadows and mountain pastures are mowed in order to enable the wildlife to graze there.

All this nutrition isn't for game exclusively, they are open and accessible for all the other animal species cohabitating in these areas.
